Description

The Lewis Chessmen, also known as the Whig Chessmen, are a distinctive group of chess pieces and other gaming items primarily crafted from walrus bone, dating back to the twelfth century. They were discovered in 1831 on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. These artifacts may represent one of the few complete surviving medieval chess sets, although it's uncertain whether the set can be reconstructed in its original configuration. The original hoard contained a total of 93 items, including 78 chess pieces, 14 table game pieces, and one belt buckle. Currently, 82 of these pieces are part of the British Museum's collection in London, while the remaining 11 are housed in the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.

The present chess set is printed out on 3D printer and are the precise copy of the original Lewis chessmen. The chess board is handmade, made of leather. Set includes custom bag, so you can carry your chess wherever you go.
